Main Thought:
Today we remember King David, who is the great king of ancient Israel and the great psalmist. The good kings of Judah were blessed by God as they followed Him. The King of Kings has ascended to His throne where He rules forever to the goal of our blessing and salvation.
Psalm 21:1-7
O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,
and in your salvation how greatly he exults!
You have given him his heart’s desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips.
For you meet him with rich blessings;
you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.
He asked life of you; you gave it to him,
length of days forever and ever.
His glory is great through your salvation;
splendor and majesty you bestow on him.
For you make him most blessed forever;
you make him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord,
Prayer
Lord Jesus, our High Priest and our victorious King, wash us by Your blood, and plead for us with the Father, showing Him Your opened side and Your pierced hands. Preserve us in Your kingdom to serve You in true faith and piety. Restrain the enemies of Your Church, both visible and invisible, and keep us unto eternal life. Amen.
A Prayer for the Commemoration of David
God of majesty, whom saints and angels delight to worship in heaven, we give You thanks for David who, through the Psalter, gave Your people hymns to sing with joy in our worship on earth so that we may glimpse Your beauty. Bring us to the fulfillment of that hope of perfection that will be ours as we stand before Your unveiled glory; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
