    Main Thought: This psalm recounts many of the times when the Israelites were faithless. In each case the Lord delivered them. Particularly note the intervening role of Phineas, grandson of Aaron, whose faithfulness turned away God’s wrath. (cf. Numbers 25)

    Main Thought: This psalm speaks about proper praise for God at the feast of tabernacles. This weeklong festival reminded the people of their 40-year journey in the wilderness after the exodus. The psalmist encourages us to praise God when we remember His mighty works.

    Main Thought: This psalm engages the particular pain we feel when a friend turns against us.  That hurts deeply and we find that we need God’s comforting presence most at that time.

    Main Thought: Whether great or small, the Lord above is God over all.  Neither the strong nor the wise can be saved by their own power.  We hope in God as His eye is on us.

    Main Thought: We know so little, but we expect God to do what we desire.  Instead, let us confess our ignorance and trust the Lord who is our refuge.  On this day we also commemorate Jacob, whose faithful life had times of weakness.
