Main Thought:
Christ was given sour wine on the cross as He suffered for our sins. We also see the role of Judas described whose camp became desolate. Yet Christ was resurrected and set on high at the right hand of the Father.

(more…)We may identify with this prayer, but consider this psalm first as the prayer of Jesus Christ. It was indeed zeal for His Father’s house that brought the reproach of the Jews and our sins and shame that He fell on Him.
(more…)Psalm 88 is a prayer of the suffering Christ. When we are troubled we can pray this with Christ. When we are well we can remember Jesus’ great sacrifice which gives us forgiveness of sins and every blessing.
(more…)When we see problems all around us, we should always remember that God loves and protects us. The world offers comfort and protection, but they eventually fail. Indeed, “Salvation belongs to the Lord!” and Jesus proved to be our savior when He died for our sins.
(more…)In this psalm, we pray for Zion, whose destruction is strewn about us. Historically, this refers to Jerusalem which was destroyed by Babylon, but as always Zion is representative of God’s people. We are a mess, but we pray that God’s glory may return and bring about a faithful response from the nations.
(more…)When we try to keep our sin inside us, we suffer its punishment in our bodies. Only by speaking it in confession to God can we be healed and made whole.
(more…)This is the second half of yesterday’s psalm. In this portion, the people of God recognize that their sinfulness was the cause of their distress yet call out for salvation.
(more…)The judgment of God has fallen on Israel. The capital and temple have been destroyed by their enemies. In this first portion of the psalm, the people of God cry out for vengeance on the unbelieving nations who were merciless in devouring Israel.
(more…)We have been tested and endured trial, but God delivers us as He promised. We will return thanks for all His goodness and love.
(more…)This Psalm begins and ends with a call for speedy justice. We indeed also call on the Lord to come quickly that the days of suffering and pain may be shortened and our eternal rest may begin in Him.
