Main Thought: The song of Habakkuk moves on from creation to the Lord’s conquering of the nations and salvation of Israel. These oppressors include Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, and any other political power that sets itself against God and His people.

Main Thought: Psalm 106 recalls much of the history of Israel. With this beginning we are reminded that the whole history of God’s people is truly the history of God’s work, not ours. We praise Him for His great love.

Main Thought: Notice the emphasis on works—the psalm decries workers of evil who refuse to regard the works of the Lord. Their works are temporary and lead to destruction, but God’s work leads to eternal life by His mercy.
